The Journey
How I Got Here
From curiosity to automation, my AI story so far
I've always had too many ideas and not enough hours. Long before AI, I was the person stitching things together with Google searches, half-read forum threads, and whatever free tool I could find that week. If something I needed didn't exist, I'd try to build a janky version of it myself. The tools have just kept getting better since.
I started using ChatGPT the week it launched and it genuinely changed what I thought was possible on a quiet weekend. Suddenly I could draft, structure and sanity-check at a pace that wasn't realistic the month before. I haven't really stopped building since.
About a year ago I picked up Claude Code for personal projects, and that's when things actually shifted for me. With persistent memory and the ability to describe what I wanted in plain English, it stopped feeling like a chat window and started feeling like I had a small team. I went from asking for snippets to actually shipping things.
At work, I built a competitor email pipeline from scratch in Python, Power Automate and AI Builder. It now saves a full team rotation's worth of time every week, but the AI credits always run dry mid-month. Lately I've been prototyping a GitHub Actions + Power Automate version that scores and summarises articles without burning through a quota.
On the personal side, n8n has been quietly running the boring half of my life. It tidied up a 20-year-old inbox I'd long given up on, and it now keeps my iOS Reminders, Notion and Google Tasks roughly in agreement with each other, something I never managed to do by hand.
A month ago I started using Hermes Agent as a proper personal assistant, and it's eaten most of how I used to use LLMs. It's wired into my Claude Code subscription as a subagent for the heavy building, runs Deepseek V4 Flash via OpenCode Go as the daily driver, and uses ChatGPT over OAuth when I want a second opinion. Full PA and orchestrator for under £30 a month, plus whatever Claude Code costs.
I don't really know where this lands long-term. The tools are moving faster than my own roadmap, which is the fun part. The bit I keep thinking about is which corners of my day actually deserve to be automated, and which I want to keep doing by hand.
Career Path
Experience
Strategic insight across industries
Sky UK
Strategy & Insight Manager
AI Adoption & Automation
- → Built multiple production agent workflows across evidence gathering, voice replication, and competitor intelligence. Earned direct senior stakeholder sponsorship for the competitor intelligence agent.
- → Built an automated competitor intelligence pipeline from scratch using Python, Power Automate, and AI Builder. Removed a manual team rotation that previously consumed a full workday. Learned the required tools on the job.
- → Taught myself M365 Copilot declarative agent development from scratch. Worked around platform constraints including black-box RAG with no retrieval control.
- → Ran regular AI workshops where colleagues learned to build M365 agents with Power Automate.
- → Held formal KPI ownership for AI adoption across the insight function. Drove adoption and measured its impact.
- → Proved content comprehension was the binding constraint for NOW conversion, not brand awareness. Redirected a significant marketing budget toward the stronger strategic lever. Maintained performance despite a major reduction in share of voice.
- → Stopped a planned NOW Sports price increase using conjoint analysis. Protected substantial annual revenue through a targeted research intervention.
- → Overturned a long-standing brand separation policy. Proved that associating Sky Sports materially improved ROMI with minimal cannibalisation. Redirected a substantial annual comms strategy.
McDonald's UK
Insight Analyst
- → Created quarterly 'State of the Nation' reports pulling together 5+ fragmented insight sources, Kantar brand tracker, CX, IPSOS, YouGov, analytics, into narrative-led strategic briefings for 300+ stakeholders.
- → Managed the Kantar brand health tracker for UK and Ireland, adapting a global framework to local market needs.
- → Led mixed-methods research combining focus groups with behavioural observation to understand what kids actually want. Contributed to bringing back the Fillet-O-Fish in the Happy Meal.
NOS SGPS
Customer Insight Specialist
- → Built NOS's first internal UX Research Lab from scratch. Researched best practices across 3 countries, created a methodology playbook, and personally conducted 60+ research sessions. Reduced turnaround from 8 weeks to 2 (75% faster) and cost from €5k to €300 (94% cheaper). Served 6 product teams.
- → Stopped a 9-month app revamp by discovering a 50% login dropout rate through eye-tracking research. Freed up a 12-person product team to fix the shared authentication flow instead. App rating went from under 2 stars to 4 stars in 3 months.
Pitagórica
Market Research Analyst
- → Delivered quantitative and qualitative research projects for agency clients across telecom and media sectors.
- → Improved internal reporting efficiency by 67% through process automation and template standardisation.
Portfolio
Selected Projects
AI infrastructure and automation projects
Hermes Model Router
Custom LLM proxy that routes each request to the right model for the job, balancing task complexity, latency, and cost. Handles tier classification, SSE streaming, approval-gated escalation, and fail-closed validation within a strict two-provider architecture.
Actively routing live traffic for daily operations
n8n Automation Infrastructure
Self-hosted personal automation platform running everyday workflows for Diogo and his family. Includes Gmail triage, iOS Reminders to Notion sync, a Siri-C3PO webhook relay, email approval flows, and Caddy-backed webhooks.
10+ active workflows
Kanban Orchestrator & Multi-Agent Delegation
Task orchestration system that breaks complex projects into workstreams, delegates to parallel subagents, and tracks progress through a persistent kanban board. Profiles route each task to the right agent type while board rules keep scope creep under control.
Parallel agent execution
Siri-C3PO Voice Pipeline
Voice-to-assistant chain spanning four systems: an iOS Shortcut captures speech, n8n receives the webhook, Hermes Agent processes the request, and the response lands in Discord. It was the first voice interface to Diogo's Hermes assistant, operational since May 2026.
Cross-system integration
Nightly Dream — Autonomous Reflection
Autonomous reflection system that runs as a cron job around 01:00 UTC every night. It reviews recent sessions, projects, and patterns, then writes a creative synthesis to Diogo's personal wiki without needing a prompt each day.
Auto-runs nightly
GitHub Radar — Proactive Tool Discovery
Weekly GitHub trending scanner that runs every Saturday at 17:00. It monitors n8n, Obsidian, AI agents, and home automation repositories, then uses a persistent JSON store to avoid sending duplicate recommendations.
Weekly automated scans

About
Strategy & Insight · London · Lisbon
I'm a Strategy & Insight professional in London. For more than 10 years, I've worked across telecom, media, tech, and consulting, usually in the space between messy data and decisions people need to make.
At Sky UK, I work with senior leaders on insight strategy and help the insight team use AI in practical ways: Copilot agents, workshops, and automated intelligence pipelines. Before Sky, I worked on brand tracking and consumer research at McDonald's UK. Earlier in my career, I built NOS's first UX research lab in Lisbon.
I also build AI automation projects outside the day job, including agent orchestration systems, voice interfaces, model routers, and autonomous cron agents. I speak Portuguese and English.
